FVU
An adult preparatory education program (in everyday speech: FVU) is for you who already speak Danish, but would like to improve your skills in reading, writing, and written communication.
Who can be accepted into a FVU?
To be accepted into FVU, you must be able to speak Danish at A2+ level and write Danish at A1 level. This corresponds to having completed:
- Danish Education 1, module 5
- Danish Education 2, module 4
- Danish Education 3, module 3
You may also have learned Danish somewhere other than a language school.
How can I be accepted into a FVU?
Before you can begin, you must register through our website after which you will be invited to an interview at the Language Center to determine which option is right for you.

- written production
- the use of texts in everyday life
In addition, we work with various goals, such as applying different reading and spelling techniques, understanding and spelling irregular words, and developing vocabulary.
Step 2
At level 2, we focus on:
- word reading and spelling, for example word classes, their meanings, and how to inflect them
- reading comprehension and metacognitive strategies, for example understanding loanwords, reading, and comprehension
- the use of strategies to develop vocabulary, such as applying context‑dependent phonological rules, using morphemes for decoding, and understanding loanwords
- writing coherent texts with a communicative purpose.
Step 3
At level 3, we focus on:
- improving knowledge of grammatical structures and different text types, for example by working with advanced phonological rules, morphological spelling patterns, and loanwords

We focus on text types, reading purposes, reading techniques, and memory strategies. We write texts with specific purposes and for defined target audiences.

- the morphology of relevant loanwords and the meaning of words in different contexts (lexicalised word formation)
- pre‑subject and subject‑specific vocabulary in different text types, academic reading in both print and digital formats, reading techniques, and study skills
- communicating subject‑specific content, audience‑oriented communication, and arguing viewpoints in a disciplinary or popular‑scientific context.
